JeZxLee
Designing An HTML5/JS Website With HTML4 Fallback? Hi, My little company website: www.16BitSoft.com is just terrible!I really want to improve it dramically and was thinking I could do it in HTML5/JS?I don't know any HTML4, but know HTML5/JS very well and I think I can make a new flashy website. I have an almost finished HTML5/JS game engine that I can modify to make new HTML5/JS website.Should not be too hard but I have a question:(Q) How can I detect if HTML5 is supported on the user's Internet browser (through JavaScript)?(would like to fallback to old HTML4 if the browser does not support HTML5) Anyone have a answer to my above question? Also is making HTML5/JS website a good idea? Thanks! JeZxLee16BitSoft Inc.Video Game Design Studiowww.16BitSoft.com
Sebi
Just don't do it.People should just stop supporting everything back to IE 6 and all that crap, instead make people update their browsers if they want to experience new features. However, there are several HTML5 shims that you could use.You would need to use javascript to detect whether or not a specific tag or feature exists and then according to that load shims.Flash canvas, geolocation api, html5 tag shim, etc.It really comes down to what your page is actually using. But really.. just don't support medieval browsers. On a sidenote: Maybe don't design your website in a way that one would think they'll get a bunch of malware if they donwload anything. Black background and green font is so 90s.

Yes, I know my current website looks bad(I am a computer programmer & not a website designer)Can someone recommend a free good beginners guide on the Internet for website design? My games are pretty good and would like a nice new website to showcase them...Thanks! alex_h
Colour theory would be a good place to start: https://www.google.co.za/webhp?#q=colour+theory or more specifically: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2010/01/28/color-theory-for-designers-part-1-the-meaning-of-color/ or http://www.creativebloq.com/colour/colour-theory-11121290
JeZxLee
Hi, Um, a forum administrator might want to check the email system for malware???See below screenshot of an email I received from the forum.(URL's in email are not proper - possible virus) JeZxLee
HappyEnd
Hi, Um, a forum administrator might want to check the email system for malware???See below screenshot of an email I received from the forum.(URL's in email are not proper - possible virus) JeZxLee It's the hosting service sending the mail (to avoid being listed as spam). It's surely an url generated for statistic usage (know who read the mail, who click on links, etc.).
