mfdesigner
We are very happy to announce that we have completely revamped our content distribution system. Our cloud-based editor or any published apps can now run near the speed of desktop apps, from our three-tier performance boost: First Tier - Our backend servers now run on Node.js. With asynchronous IO, multi-threading, and clustering, it is several degree faster than any traditional LAMP setup. Second Tier - Our content, once published, are now distributed throughout a network of global cache servers. Below is our network map: Third Tier - our client now use browser's local cache to store most frequently used content. (local file system on chrome and indexedDB on Firefox.) Once populated, our apps run exclusively locally until the users clear up app hosted data. Your published apps will automatically be disseminated throughout our global network and enjoyed by a world wide audience. When you visit an app for the first time, our client first checks the local cache, the regional cache server, and finally our servers at California. You will notice a performance hit, only if you are the first in your region to access that content for the very first time. Here is a sample scene for speed test. Oh, our apps now run on android devices as well.
gryff
@mfdesigner: Looks very interesting - just watched a couple of your YouTube videos. Wondering how complex a scene can get - either with meshes or scripted animations - before the frame rate drops. I noticed in the videos it says "5GB free", but on your website it is "2GB free" . I will explore more. cheers, gryff
mfdesigner
If you want to kick the tire first, you can test drive our editor here: (a formal announcement is forthcoming.) https://www.otakhi.com/petridish Similar to jsfiddle, you can test out your javascript code and game ideas there. Open utility drawer along the top and you can drag and drop to import many previously published droplets into the workspace and see how each one is made. The bottom left drawer allows you to publish your creation to a public URL and share with world wide audience. However, you are limited to one project per nickname/IP. The newly published project overwrites the previous one. To import your own mesh or image, drag and drop them from your desktop or file explorer into a droplet in the workspace. Inside the editor, wherever you see a paper clip means you can drag and drop a file there. If you have any question, please post them to our NodeBB forum under the category Petri Dish at https://www.otakhi.com/forum I will promptly answer each one. You can post questions as guest without logging in. Thank you.
mfdesigner
A problem with our CDN led to most of the image traffic go directly to our servers. I will keep you updated when the problem is fixed.
