Trump's Wall Game - Persistent Multiplayer Game

Trump's Wall Game started out as a joke but somehow manifested into something that is...still a joke. It's a persistent world with one thousand nine hundred and sixty virtual miles along the border. Choose either the red team (builds wall) or the blue team (breaks the wall). Then go nuts and build or break away. Trump's Wall Game is a living breathing thing so any changes you make will be reflected for the rest of the world to see.

Oh, we also hired a Trump impersonator to do the voices. That in itself is worth checking out. Enjoy!

Play the game here: https://meowyorktimes.com/wall.html

Game was created by a three man team in a few weeks. A designer (me), a developer and an artist.

I laughed - the parody is well written with convincing voice acting.

BUT ... hooooge shame about the sign-in requirement / wall so early!?  Is this a self-referential parody about walls ;)

Sign-in isn't suited to hyper-casual (because an unplayed game isn't worth surrendering privacy / anonymity and will more likely create abandoned sessions or fake email data).  So save that for people who have played some levels and want to prove a point to their friends / or unlock some powerups.

Actually that's the main complaint so far - the sign-in requirement. Unfortunately we had to do this due to botting issues.

We started with just facebook connect as the easy account creation but soon realized that not everyone uses that and included email. Even with that, it's still a barrier to entry.  :(

Please can you explain more?  Some suggestions might come in from this forum if we know more?  If too late for this game, it maybe useful for the next game.

We've had issues with previous games we made with bots hammering our servers. An account creation process at the very least throttles this.

Our developer is a server guy so his concern has always been reducing the amount of server hits. Bots make him cry at night.
