focomoso Posted February 23, 2018 Share Posted February 23, 2018 Hi, I'm trying to evaluate Babylon for use as a 2d charting engine. So far so good, but one of the things we'll need to be able to do is add and remove text labels on the fly. I have a tiny demo here: https://www.babylonjs-playground.com/#WRD1S9#6 Notice how the label flashes at the bottom right corner for a brief moment every time the label is added to the advanced texture and before it's linked to the mesh. First, is there a way around this? I've tried linking to the mesh before adding, but then the label doesn't actually link. Second, is there a better way to do this? I've tried setting the label.text = "" and it works, but the performance is not as good when we remove the labels entirely. I tried a few things... de-visiblizing the AdvancedDynamicTexture during the textBlock add... https://www.babylonjs-playground.com/#WRD1S9#7 No joy. But, this subject needed bumping, imho. The enthusiasm is pretty high and very contagious... in the forum's user-base. It's like... our job... is testing/tweaking "fun". I wish every job was so delightful. BabylonJS has a way of adding "Hey, maybe I CAN do this" to any person's project-dream. Enthusiasm. "thooze". BJS brings out the "thooze" in people. Then it drips all over the forum. It has something to do with spinning colored mesh - it does something to people. Sort-of... Fisher-Prices them. Mentally, they travel back to the playpen, age 1, staring at mobiles, playing with cubes, and drooling in fascination over everything. We have a TEAM of janitors that mops-up the drool around our playground... caused by BJS scenes. Users--- drooling over the pretty shapes and colors.
