onlycape
Hi, To get free royalty and public domain assets I usually visit the OpenGameArt.org website. Look allways to the license terms, usually you must give appropriate credit to the author. If you like gamescape and want to make your own assets, in "2D Game Art for Programmers" you can find a lot of tips and step-by-step inkscape tutorials. But remember to export to a supported format like PNG. Regards.
Skeptron
We use Inkscape to do all our art, and it's awesome. You need to like the vectorial style though, but if you do it's up to the task. See what we did with Inkscape here : https://www.nemroth.com
mazoku
Inkscape is great, but I prefer its older versions. The new ones are making me crazy.
