delete this account!
I was just wondering why people here are choosing to make HTML5 games that are browser based instead of desktop? Is there less money and more risk with desktop on platforms like Steam, Itch.io and GameJolt? I like browser for how easy it is to distribute. Please share you reasons it would be interesting to see what people have to say.
b10b
It is miraculous to share a creative experience with anyone, anywhere - without language barrier, cost, or perceived complexity. Browser games are an example of such simplicity. labrat.mobi and blackmoondev
WiLD11
Because it's mindblowing! I can go and play any game without downloading it, it's the perfect platform for disposable games. That's pretty crazy to me. For me nostalgia was a huge factor too. I remeber playing flash games as a kid on newgrounds and making games that can be distributed like that is just awesome. Only thing that sucks is performance limitations.
caymanbruce
Because everyone can play. There is no lock-in. You can just leave it if you have something important to do and nothing loses. You can even play it on a train or in the bus to kill time. It's better than playing single player games but less stressful than playing AAA mobile MMO games. Raggar
Distribution. The fact that you already have the game client (browser) installed is just perfect. And then the ease of getting started with a language like Javascript. Might not be the best language, but it's very easy to get the hang of. away168
Because it gives me money with very short development time, that's what I recall.
RNull
Because I believe is the future of gaming. You can have all platforms unified in one. If I want to export for desktop, electron comes to my rescue. If I need it as a mobile app Cordova is the way to go. In any case accessibility is very high and performance is getting better every day.
