adamquadmon
I there, I'm looking for solutions to design interior and exteriors starting from floorplans like using a CAD software. Those are my mine requirements:- open source- sharing file format (like dxf) The idea- from a 2D floorplant (maybe an image)- start creating walls (length, thickness, height) - add doors and windows - see results in a live 3D view of the house/villa - add textures for floors and walls Then have the possibility to add shaders and do light and material management (or export and do it in another dedicated software) The following website has a comparative for floor plan software, but no one accept a Dxf file or similar for the first step, and the code is not open:http://www.houseplanshelper.com/free-floor-plan-software.html This looks like a very good product from that list: https://home.by.me There is also Google Sketchup http://sketchup.com But my requirements are not fitted. Here you can find an interesting Google OpenSource camp about those topics but it looks like stucked at summer 2016:http://brlcad.org/wiki/Google_Summer_of_Code/Project_Ideas This nice project is an interesting CAD:https://www.openjscad.org/ Then I meet Babylonjs and Threejs and this forum as well. My first Idea was to investigate openjscad first, but now I'm asking myself if Babylon could be a better solution for later advanced 3D rendering. What do you suggest? Here there is a talk about floorplants done in babylon but looks everything but easy and clean:
