Beginner Question

Hi Everybody,

 

I am an experienced web developer, mostly done backend stuff in python and some server admin.

I have some experience in frontend/ javascript as well and 

 

I wanted to dive into HTML5 game development. I really love this game - http://www.y8.com/games/10_seconds. I want to built this game in HTML5. 

 

Can anyone guide me regarding -.

1. Which framework should I go with
2.  Any basics development book.
3. I think this game is not very complex, isnt it?

I also look for some basic development book, but more of the business side then actual code.

most flash games are really not that complex, you just need the engine to build it in.

1. Don't worry about a framework yet until you understand the basics - see 2 . 

 

2. This book covers all the basics of HTML5 game development from the ground up:

Maybe take a look at it first so that you get a good idea of the problems you'll need to solve.

Then choose a game development framework if you want to - there are hundreds.

Phaser is as good as any and much better than most.

 

3. That game you linked to is not complex to play, but very complex to build.

Check out Construct 2. It doesn't require coding skill but it's good enough to make complex HTML5 games
