Chirp 1.2 - Online music composer

If you are not familiar with the project - it is free online music composer that can render your song into WAV file. Works in Chrome only.

Chrome and Firefox should be working.

Major changes in v1.2:

 

* Soundbank - with couple basic instruments (piano, bass, synths)

* Totally reimplemented Piano Roll

* Notes are now edited with mouse

* Notes group selection (hold CTRL)

* Hit TAB to get more workspace in Piano Roll

* Reverb (for now automatically added to main channel - except for drums)

* New mouse wheel behaviours - in playlist wheel on instrument icons will scroll through them - wheel on the playlist itself will scroll its position.  

* Obvious theme redesign

 

Please note that it is rushed release - bugs here and there.

 

Coming next:

 

* More instruments in soundbank

* Sampled drums / drumpad

* Soundcloud integration

* Effects channels

* Save/open files?

 

Removed: 

 

* Vertical piano (it was really awkward for editing purposes)

* Sharing with native player (sorry - this was cool idea but composer/player code separation costs me too many design choices - this should not be an issue after soundcloud integration).

Hey am I missing something or there isn't UNDO ? it's crucial when delete several bars in try to clone or move them or a melody notes too.

Good undo is one of the most frustrating things to implement - but I will add it at some point.

I'll have to refine it but at least it's a starting ground

 

Also I very good feature will be real time recording (quantized at first as I think is easy for implementation) because making melodies with mouse click is tedious

 

Once again very good work I used all features pan, zoom, copy, clone, mark sections also I like how if section is cloned you can make a change and it's propagated to all clones but if you down want it to propagate just uncheck the bars and then they are all by themselves

I am really glad to you've managed to use clips properly - the lack of standard patterns system is bothersome

 

There is realtime recording and quantization - disabled tho until I fix it. My idea was to create an additional -

jamming track where all your random pressed variations go and then you can copy->paste the parts that you like

I am not sure how to get it convenient - yet.

Really cool. Didin't work in Firefox for me, but no problems at all in Chrome.

 

I'd suggest looking at an alternative for the right-click and keyboard shortcut keys, if you made this in a touch-screen friendly way, so it could be used on a tablet, it would be absolutely brilliant.

This is awesome rezoner. First music composer that i understood. I would like to continue my journey into music creation with this tool. Can you suggest me any resources/tutorials that could help me start with creating that kind of music ?
