Initially I used https://github.com/belohlavek/phaser-es6-boilerplate for the boilerplate of my game. I configured Gulpfile.js for my taste a bit and everything worked properly. However, I needed to rely on NodeJS/socket.io to develop a backend server so I could add multiplayer functionality. I watched some tutorials/read some guides and eventually came up with a solution.
