rich
Hi all, Today I upgraded the forum to IPS 4. Took a bit longer than expected, but all working now. I still need to configure quite a few things, but all forums and posts are here, and you should all be able to login and post without any problems. But let me know if there are any! Edit: And no, I've no idea where all our avatars have gone. Will have a look. Cheers, Rich

MarianG
Nice. ...But I can't see unread posts from before update. Thanks

Arcanorum
Doesn't look great tbh. What was so wrong before that the change was deemed necessary?
WombatTurkey
I'm having an issue with editing posts Also, why on earth is giving a reason to edit a post required? I really hope you can disable that. I also hope you can enable online listings as well
rich
Edit seems to work fine for me. The 'reason' box was always there (even in the old forum) but it's optional, and I rarely filled it out.

Simple - it's the only version of IPS that receives security updates now!

JCPalmer
I have noticed that code segments are lacking new lines. Here is a test on one created after upgrade line 1 line 2 line 3 Here is a topic with both a typescript and python code block BdR

Wait, so all the other people that paid for full price for earlier versions years ago are now left hanging dry and vulnerable unless they update to the latest version? Seems a little bit over-controlling from IPS to be honest. No cookie for them.
rich
It's license based, I have to pay every 6 months to keep receiving updates. I could stop paying, and stop getting them, but that seems a bit daft imho.
WombatTurkey
Oh, I see. That makes sense now. Overall, I like the new board. Feels more modern.
rgk
Hey Rich, Remove the max-width value on ipsLayout_container. or make it 100%. Looks nicer for big displays. .ipsLayout_container { max-width: 100%; padding: 0 15px; margin: 0 auto; position: relative; }
staff0rd
Aw, logo picture at the top missing!
staff0rd
I'm also unable to edit posts. Clicking the edit button causes the text of the post to dissappear, and only displays the Reason for edit component as in the gif earlier in this thread. Console reveals the following error being thrown; root_library.js.6c3d64c9d45b991e2febff5975fc31ed.js?v=9c343b9c00:2 Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token <
AshleyScirra2
I can't seem to log in any more with my old account (AshleyScirra). I logged in via Twitter, and now if I log in via Twitter it says "complete your registration with a display name and email address", then tells me the ones I use are already in use Running from a new account now... Also, pretty brave to upgrade forum software, I've never known that to go smoothly for anyone!

Can't see your password obviously, but I'm sure you could reset it.
