Write code using cards

Some friends of mine who usually develop using Unity, Java and Python (those are separate projects by the way - not a hybrid Unity, Java, Python mess) developed a VPL (visual programming language) and a game that used it.  (not quite DCPU-16, more Core War).  Abandoned the idea and made the game into a card game.  (abandoned the idea because funding options ran out).

 

But we still wanted to put coding into a game - as a game mechanic.  So we ended up with a robot hacking, computer programming card game.  I'm yet to use HTML for game dev (too busy leaning spring) but the markup language principles translate pretty easily to what we are trying to do in the game.  Would love to get input and see what anyone developing bizarre game mechanics in HTML5 thinks of the concept.
