Ryguy
Hello everybody,This is just a quick post to let those who might be interested know that I recently finished a blog entry about making beautiful games with simple math. No art experience is needed to understand or use what I write about. I walk through changing a game which looks like this:Into this: For those who haven't visited my site before, I write game design articles and updates on my own development process about once a month, and have been doing so for about a year now. I hope my thoughts and experiences are valuable to you, but mostly I would love to become more connected to the community. Thanks for reading and I hope to see you around! -Ryan -Ben, IndieDevAustin and AhmedElyamani

lordkryss
This reminds me of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fy0aCDmgnxg (also available on gdvault http://www.gdcvault.com/play/1016487/Juice-It-or-Lose if you want to better seethe slides).Using easing is one of the things they talked about, but they talked about more technique to make a game more "juicy".I think very developer should see this talk at least once in their life AhmedElyamani and -Ben

Ryguy
I agree, that video is phenomenal. In many ways it formalized my thinking about tweening and other forms of "juice." Yet it's amazing how everyone seems to know about the talk but rarely utilizes the techniques proposed in it. I also was disappointed (when I first watched it) by their non-explanation about where to find easing functions. I thought that condensing the ideas into a smaller format and providing resources for the people who are most likely to read the article would be more helpful in some cases. Schouenborg
Thank you posting this. I agree that tweening will make your game appear more engaging to the user and I will probably use the technique in my next game.
Ryguy
I'm glad to hear that! It really is a cheap way to get a big return on your time. I hope you find it useful. mwatt
