mfdesigner
We are happy to report that we have added Volumetric lighting as part of spotlight option. Unlike post-processing derived Godrays effect where rays disappears when light source is located outside the view frustum, this approach is based on the method of slice-based volume rendering inspired by the work of Jason Mitchelle in "Light Shafts: Rendering Shadows in Participating Media" and works no matter where light source is located. Here are three examples: (1) Statue in light: slow moving air particles are made from scrolling a noise map with additive blending. The rate of movement is controllable. See it in Petri-Dish (2) Gothic Window: Spotlight gel is used to modulate light shafts' color. See it in Petri-Dish (3) Space Ship: Uses spotlight diffuse color to control the color of it's probe light without noise. Many cool effects are now possible using volumetric lighting. A video tutorial is forthcoming
