Progressive numbering on tiled background

Hello fellows,

here I am with yet another impossible question:

What I would need to accomplish here is write a progressive number on a tiled background.

It's like a slider (carousel), but each slide has to have a progressive number on it.

 

So the next question is also how do I repeat a tile n-times (I haven't seen the documentation yet so feel free to curse at me)
