React Native compiles JavaScript to iOS app

Hi guys, just read that Facebook launched compiler to build native iOS apps from JavaScript. Looks like Android apps will follow soon.

Have anybody tried this and what are your thoughts? Can this compete with CocoonJS?

Thanks for sharing, looks promising! If it compiles to (good) native code it should make CocoonJS obsolete. However, if you already have 60FPS code in a webview each of them isn't really necessary, except you want to save the battery of your users.

Its only good for people who use the javascript library React but I do like that Facebook Open Sourced it


I will stick with Cross-Walk and Cordova. Cordova gets the WKWebView next month. It seems Hybrid is really the next big thing..

Haven't seen more details about using Canvas or OpenGL, are these views supported officially?

I don't see how React Native will do much for standard Phaser code.  As I understand it, React Native is mostly about providing native UI, although it does provide additional multi-threading capabilities.
