Welcome! Karoshi is great, I remember the original from back in the day :)

Thanks. Jesse's been considering bringing a Karoshi game to HTML5 but in all honesty I wouldn't know how he's been faring with that. That said, we've also been working on a C++ game called 'New Karoshi' which you should be looking forward to. ;)

Hello guys! I'm Overloaded and I'm an indie game developer. I use GameMaker: Studio Professional + HTML5 module, but I haven't made any HTML5 games yet... although some HTML5 games are on the making right now. :) And of course I'll make even more in the future. I'm also a member of GMC (GameMaker Community).

So yeah, hello everyone! :D

Better late then never.... so a big hello to this community. I am Michael Hartlef and participating in this phenomenan called "Indie game development" for quite some time. Mostly working on tools and SDKs in the beginning but lately working on my own stuff too. Right now I am evaluating the best tool for my html5 mobile projects. Monkey, which I am using since it is out, GM:S and now Phaser. For a year I am also doing game art for clients. That actually was the most profitable area for me regarding game develpment. To show off my efforts, I have a few websites that concentrate on each area.

http://www.michaelhartlef.de    ->   my art stuff

http://www.whiteskygames.com    ->   home of my current and future games

@Rich: Thanks for providing such a great place which is filled with great informations.

Hi All,

This is a great community! I've been browsing and posting a little since last week.

I used to do Flash games for Armor Games and Newgrounds and also have published a couple mobile games. I've worked on a social network game at a company in Japan, and now I'm trying to make it on my own in any way I can!

I really like the idea of HTML5 games as the games are small and quick to develop, and it's a challenge to make something for a broad audience (in stead of doing some obscure indie game for a niche market, though that is fun too). They say HTML5 games are "crappy" but I think the audience will start to expect better and better quality so it should be a great learning experience to try and keep up with that.

Hi there!

I've already posted a few times about my GameMaker engine, but I thought I'd come and introduce myself anyway. I'm an independent developer with titles published to iOS, Android, Windows Phone and Windows 8. My projects there have been doing OK, but not spectacularly. I've been interested in making HTML5 games for a while now but never really got myself going. That's all changing now as I've released my first independent html5 game here: http://www.marketjs.com/game/store-room and I hope to release many more in future!

I also hope that I can come here and help in any way possible, I will try to share code snippets and my unused graphics (which I have a lot of) when I can. Thanks and nice to meet you,

Dan.

Hi,

My names Rich "Squize" Myles, and I'm a Flash dev coming over to the dark side ;) ( That's a great way to make myself popular from the start isn't it ).

I'm involved in two indie studios,

GamingYourWay http://blog.gamingyourway.com

Which is pretty much a legacy thing now which I just don't ever want to fully sever ties with, and our new baby,

Garage Collective http://www.garage-collective.com

I'm looking to branch out into new platforms, so both mobile and mobile browser, hence me joining ( Plus being mates with Rich )

And I think that's it from my hello world post. Hopefully I'll be an active and useful member of the community and I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys.

Squize.

Greetings from Puerto Rico :P

I'm Aristides one of the very few established Video Game developers in PR. I've been an indie dev for the past five years, working with programming, Art and game design. My tool of preference is Game maker which is where most of my experience is based on. I signed up because I'm gearing up for a strong push on HTML5 so I'm planning on becoming an active member on your community, I hope I can get acquainted with you guys. :)

Cheers!

Hi, I've been following this forum since it was created as I'm a photonstorm fan :) but I never posted anything before. I've been developing native mobile games for many years. I love the html5 ecosystem and I think it's time to explore it. I hope you can help me! ;)

Hi! I'm new here. I'm primarily into doing art for games (PC & mobile so far) here is my portfolio: http://www.behance.net/SterlingDee  I'm also current doing business development (accounting/tax/general business stuff) on a game being released on Steam next yr as I'm a CPA, CA in "real life"

The only programming language I know is Visual Basic as I used to study business information systems. I would like to learn some javascript and make my own small games or collaborate with someone else on more polished ones.

Hi everyone! It's great to see HTML5 gaining momentum and seeing more and more quality games being produced.

I'm a full-time game developer at a studio and used to make Flash games in my own free time. I've always followed HTML5 game development news and now instead of observing from the sidelines I've decided to jump right in and start making a few games of my own!

Really hope to learn from all of you here and looking forward to creating my first HTML5 game!

Vincent

Whoa, nice to see you here.  We know each other from way back in the GM days :)

Hello Everyone.

First of all, I would like to personally thank every single one you for being pioneers in the HTML5 game development scene.  I've had fun lurking and reading the interesting discussions surrounding gaming, technology and the industry that we've come to love, and hate at times (Mobile Safari I'm looking at you).

But I noticed (or failed to find) a Introduction section on the forum, so I created this post to introduce myself:

I'm Felipe Budinich, an indie game developer from Chile,
I've been working on HTML5 games since 2011, most notably I managed to successfully kickstart and release a HTML5 game.

I have left the company that released that game to begin my own journey. Currently I'm finishing and uploading to portals several prototypes I made before developing games for a living, most of them in AS3 (I'm checking which ones get more traction, in order to port them to HTML5), releasing the source code for all of them on my github at the same time (beware of awful code from 5 years ago, I was just getting started at the time).

I'm also working on my own HTML5 engine, as I had been waiting for Phaser to be released, in order to make the jump from Impact, but Typescript put me off, as one of the things that I like the most about javascript is the low barrier of entry for new developers, but I think that adding another layer of abstraction on top is not the way forward (this is just an opinion, you are free to dismiss it).

So, I'll try to be more active in the community, share code, knowledge, and have fun, now that I'm not wearing a corporate muzzle  ;)

Moved post into the introduction thread :)
