Hi, My name is Nikky. I'm a 31 year old 2D graphic designer (vector) with years of experience, available full time for freelance work. I also had experience on making my own games for 2 years. I can do characters, items, animations, backgrounds, re-skinning, UI design, game cover, icons, logos, and any other kind of 2D art assets. My rate at the moment is $14 per hour, I can also work with a fixed price (with an asset list and a request art style). Well, I usually make deal on a fixed price after estimating the cost to the clients. Or maybe if you have some kind of budget for the art work, we can start negotiate from that. You can see some of my 2D art works for all kinds of games in https://imageshack.com/a/NSMz/1 I work fast, understand deadline, work on weekends and holidays, understand time zone deference, I don't sleep to much anyway, prefer Paypal for safe payments, not interested in profit sharing, or free works. I'm full-time freelance so my focus is on this. I can do most Graphic Art style (vector base). I usually do a test run of one or two of the clients request assets (usually clients also has a request type of style) to make sure the style, design, coolness, cuteness, etc fits them, no need to pay if the test run result doesn't fit you. But if it does, then lets do more actions! Feel free for asking me the estimate of the cost, it maybe cheaper then you think it is. You can email me at [email protected] For Cost reference : Character Design : $7 - $28 (depend on details) +add $7 - $14 per animation (4 - 10 frames) (depend on details) Item $5 - $14 (depend on details) Background $14 - $56 (depend on details) Buttons $2 - $7 (depend on details) Etc. For a more accurate cost, give me a list, and I will calculate for a fix cost. If we have a deal, I will make some samples from the list to make sure you like the art style, if you approved then we move forward. etc. You can email me at [email protected] for more details. Here are some of my works :

Hi everyone! My name is Adrián and I represent Legends of Learning. Through an innovative marketplace of educational games, we teach math and science to nearly 10 million students in over 30,000 schools (and growing fast). We are looking to work with passionate game developers interested in revenue share to build FUN games that also happen to teach. Games on our platform usually consist of 10-15 minutes of gameplay to teach a specific academic topic, and developers have complete creative freedom (really!) in how that topic is taught. The longer your game stays on the platform, the more you will earn. Some devs have multiple games on the platform, so their total earnings can be much higher. Just last year, we distributed $1 million dollars to game developers. You also retain game IP and can reuse existing assets from your previously made games, provided that it makes sense in the context of an educational game for kids. Forget about dealing with marketing and focus completely on game development! Whether you are an independent developer or part of a 100-person studio, we want to work with you. Unlike other platforms where only a few lucky studios strike gold in a "winner take all" marketplace, Legend's innovative model provides significant and growing payouts to the MEDIAN developer, with great payouts for top developers. Does building games that matter sound interesting to you? Visit Legends of Learning Game Dev – Be Part of the Revolution and sign up!

Hey guys, tldr: I'd love to know if any of you would be interested in a noBackend solution for turn based games. For you (as a game dev) that would mean just program 2 files for a game: client.js (all the game design) and server.js (the game logic, so that cheats are prevented) and upload them, and you would have your game online, with all the multiplayer functionality (login, invitation flow, game creation, notifications, chat) for free. These are not words in the air, most of the pieces are technically coded already. Longer version: After having spent an important time looking around, it seems that nowadays, making a multiplayer game cannot go without having to set up a backend and some kind of infra. More importantly, most games that I have seen that supposedly offer a multiplayer functionality, are actually lacking most of the important features to do so. In particular, it seems almost impossible to play with friends in any of them. And in a way, it totally makes sense: When you are an indie developer, what you're mostly interested in is designing a great game, not dealing with all the stuff that has to go around it. And the sad part is that some great games never make it online because of these barriers. I have been working on a game (adaptation of Risk) for a long time - can be found at http://plynd.com ; already mentionned in an earlier post on this forum. And as a matter of fact, all the extra stuff (what I call the beyond-the-game experience) really interests me, as I am a backend engineer originally. And all the work that I've done for Risk has no reason not to serve other people. Therefore I am turning this game into a platform, and these are the specs: - All the identity and game management flow is taken care of by the platform (think of : "you've been invited by .. to play" or "it is your turn") - The backend is provided to store your game state (think plain json) - The realtime and notification flow is for free => This would basically always set you up in a situation where n players have joined your game. Which means that, as a game developer you can just focus on 2 things: - implement all the game design within one client.js file. It is run in the browser of the user. nothing new there. - implement all the game logic that you do not want to run on the client side in server.js. This is where the game state should be updated (to react to players' events). This will run on our servers and you will have a seamless bridge to call these functions from the client.js file. This is not completely implemented yet, I am working hard to make it happen with a friend of mine. But we have technically proven all the pieces required to make it work. We are now working on making a very basic Connect-4 so people can see how it would really all work together. Note: the game would be available everywhere (iOS, Android, web) within dedicated apps (but that's HTML5, so you were expecting it right?) So (finally) comes the questions: would you see that as interesting? Would you use it? What would be your potential concerns? Aside from the technical aspect (that we are pretty confident about) do you think we are completely off somewhere? Thank you very much for reading this very long post! Laurent

One example I used in my JavaScript/HTML5 programming course ( https://www.grelf.net/jscourse/ ) was a rather crude drawing program, grDraw. An exercise at the end of the course suggests some improvements to make. My own improved version can be found at https://www.grelf.net/grDraw2/grDraw.html I mention it because it includes some things that may be useful to other developers such as - a colour palette object which may help beginners to understand CSS colours - browsing to display a user's images and get spot colours from them - saving images in local storage and retrieving them (not as difficult as I first imagined) An example display can be seen below - echoes of Kandinsky?

There is a PATTERN game at https://www.html5pcode.com/a1ypatternfit.htm that was designed to teach the art of coding. It uses structured programming, so it is easy to follow the logic of the design. The game is divided into small self contained pieces. It has a main program and a subprogram. The subprogram has routines that perform specific tasks when they are called by the main program. The game has links to YouTube videos that describe the operation of the main program and the subprogram routines. Once you learn how to design games like this one, you can go on to design your own games in JavaScript and/or a JS framework. This p-code lends itself to teaching coding because the source and object code are the same. The engine that created the code (source-code) is the same engine that executes the code (object-code). This makes it possible to do the following options. A DATA OPTION allows you to view the game's data, while the game is running. A TRAIL OPTION allows you to execute a few instructions at a time, so you can see what each routine is doing. A REAL TIME (RT) OPTION allows you to change instruction values, while the game is running. The YouTube videos show how these options are used in the designing of the game. There are many other games written in this p-code at https://www.html5pcode.com

As some have already pointed out in this forum there is a problem with scenes stretching ahead with a sudden cut-off at a horizon. Objects just beyond the horizon suddenly pop completely into view on the slightest forward movement. I have addressed this in my program The Forest ( https://www.myforest.uk ) by making the scene hazy (or foggy) towards the horizon, if the user switches this effect on via a check box on the page. A couple of example scenes are attached here. I have written a detailed description of how I programmed it ( https://www.grelf.net/forestdesign.html#fog ). My code is plain HTML5/JavaScript using no framework and only the standard 2D graphics context because I want my program to run on as many platforms as possible. So my documentation explains how to process images in that environment and indeed how to copy an object of type Image complete with its pixel data, which is not entirely obvious or straightforward. I hope this may be useful to others.

Alright, not sure if this has been touched, deciding to do a mystlike with just regular static graphic scenes (my own) so I can use most likely, Canvas? Anyhow, I was wondering is there a inventory container plugin that I can use to get in game take-able objects to interact with said stills? Most likely simple hyperlinking with invisible boxes will be the best bet for going into other rooms, but changing mouse cursor design would be a javascript plugin no doubt.. So.... Any pointers? Also how should I make savestates for in game saving just in case some one needs a breather?

Hi !! I continue to learn this wonderful framework of BabylonJS and program an open source FPS game (should be on Github soon). I first hesitated between built-in collision system and the cannonjs physic engine : I tried both and I currently think the physical engine will better suit my needs (rocket jump ! ). I am already able to move a character, in any direction, first or third camera view, I can jump on objects, but I am facing a new problem.... => I have to detect ANY ground collision and this task is not so easy as it seems. Detecting collision with a cube is easy, but detecting collision ONLY from the top of the cube (to end a jump andplay a sound, for example) is more complicated. If I jump, I don't care about wall collision with the cube, I am interested only by the collision when my character collides from bottom. My character is a simple invisible Box. So I got some ideas : 1) create a second box for my character, a little bit smaller, just to detect collision "from bottom". xxxx xxxx <=== main box, detect wall collision xxxx ----- <=== thin bottom box of the character, detect ground collision 2) OR change scene objets where I can jump on, with a special "ground type objet" but this solution seems the most awful possible : you are not free anymore to design objects 3) OR change the way collision are detected : for example, if my position.y is decreasing AND THEN my position.y < epsilon, then it means I have collided something. With this solution I don't even need collision event : i create it myself, but it is a little but tricky to code OR ... any idea ? I will try solution 1 and will share my experience here. If anyone has an advice on this or encountered the same kind of problem plz tell us Thanks

Hello everyone, I love to make games, but unfortunately i don't know how to make graphics for my games. This is the main reason of incomplete games. Is there anyone knows how to solve this? I am not looking for making "the best" graphics, but i just want to achieve moderate quality. Do you think can i learn some basic concept of computer graphics? Or must i outsource graphics design completely?
